Taranaki riders ruled in most classes over three days of A&P show events in Hawera at the weekend.
Hawera’s Robert Steele and Gospel won the one-star horse grand prix at the Egmont A&P Show with Steele producing the only double clear round.
Manutahi’s Tim Myers and his classy bay gelding Pick Me NZPH rode a quick double clear to win the two-star young rider event on Sunday. Myers had to settle for second in the one-star young rider on Friday.
In the two-star grand prix on Sunday, Olympian and world champs representative Sam McIntosh (Cambridge) won the horse grand prix, with Steele having to settle for second.
Both went double clear, but McIntosh’s time of 40.24 seconds just pipped Steele’s time of 40.82sec.
Another to win a series class on Sunday was New Plymouth’s Lydia Quay aboard Kaipara Double Dee. They won the pro amateur class ahead of New Plymouth’s Tracy Horton and HS Liquorice Twist, who had to settle for second after dropping a rail in the jump-off.
